Another way you can prevent insect infestation to your beloved trees and shrubs is by applying horticultural oil to the trunks of your trees. 
This is often done at the end of the growing season to additionally protect from the winter weather that is slowly creeping up. This is something that should be applied before winter, which is often referred to as the dormant season, to ensure that your plants do not lose all of their progress they have made throughout the growing season.
